I know... Learned that in Brit Lit. It was Robert Burns, I believe whose pessimistic little quote we learned to say by rote: "Even the best laid plans of mice and men go awry." I do hope that is accurate.

A man on a trek came upon the wall of China. He could not climb it for it is high. His only choice was to give up his journey or walk around it. He walked around it. The journey was longer than expected. He met many many people who could not say how far, but they were each a delight to him.
